A Return to Wildlife Safari
(Excuse the underlining - I can't find how to escape it up here!)

Mick had never EVER been to Wildlife Safari before, and we were coming off a super hard week of Spring Break -- ScienceWorks (exhilarating but hard), Strep throat (Dane was almost over it and I'd been on antibiotics for 24 hours on this day), and lovely houseguests the week before that -- so we decided to reconnect with each other.

We drove a hundred miles north to renew our membership at Wildlife Safari, in hopes of finding some Spring babies AND seeing what sort of Good Deals we could find again this year.

For renewing our membership, we got a FREE ELEPHANT CAR WASH (look at that elephant loving on our van!) - valued at $20.

We rode in the Safari Bus out to Feed The Bears (knocked down to $10 per person instead of $40 as a Spring Break Special):

We threw the bears apples, and we had to be careful not to tag them in the head (we weren't always the best shots, though, sorry to say -- thankfully the bears never held it against us):

And lastly, we went on the Lion Training excursion (again, FREE with our membership renewal) -- where horse meat and a dummy stick got the lions to stand up on their awesome hind legs...

The lions were magnificent, and probably Mick's favorite, but I think we'd all agree the cutest little cutie patooties were the baby goats.

And Dane loved the camels -- he took these pictures:

And to top it all off, we had to participate in this special Reynolds tradition:

ScienceWorks Spring Break Science Camp: World Record Week

March 22 – 26, 2010
Grades K – 3
8:30 am – 2 pm, with aftercare available until 4:30

Behind every world record there is a scientific explanation! Come

explore the strange, bizarre and funny records of the world…Who

is the world’s tallest person, and how did they get so tall? Who is

the world’s hairiest family, and how did they get so hairy? What

makes the world’s longest fingernails grow curly instead of straight?

We’ll even try to recreate some zany records on a smaller scale,

like what happens when 1,911 students each combine Mentos and

soda at exactly the same moment! At World Record Week, we’ll

inquire, experiment, analyze and dream about some of the world’s

most amazing records!

Camp includes hands-on projects and experiments, time on exhibits, healthy snacks, games and art/craft activities. Bring a lunch and water bottle daily and get ready for some science fun!

Space is limited so sign up now!

A REAL
ELEPHANT CAR WASH

At Wildlife Safari again, for the Spring Break Special this time: The Elephant Car Wash. And this time we had six cousins, three grandparents, and two moms all piled into Uncle Kai's Sprinter - a.k.a. The Death Star. The Death Star is no small vehicle, but you wouldn't know that next to this here pachyderm, Tiki.

Tiki sprayed and sponged the van - and then ate a carrot from everybody's fingertips.

We were totally wiped out by the end of the day, after all that driving, but it was fun. The Elephant Car Wash was cool. So was the petting zoo, and, of course, so were these photo opps:

More creepy pics...
